The Nightingale give-back

A free security checkup for one local nonprofit, every month.

Churches, theaters, the small community organizations that hold a place together — the ones that rarely have room in the budget for a security consultant. Each month I give one of them a free wireless and security checkup.

What the checkup is

One clear scope, set up front.

A checkup is genuinely useful and deliberately bounded. Knowing exactly where it starts and stops is what keeps it free, fair, and something I can offer every month without fail.

Included

  • A look at your wireless networks and how they're set up and separated
  • A quick check of what your organization exposes to the open internet
  • A short, plain-language summary of what to fix first — written so a volunteer board can act on it
  • A half-hour call to walk you through it

Not included

  • Ongoing monitoring, management, or remediation labor
  • Formal compliance, audit, or legal sign-off
  • A guarantee — it's a checkup that points you in the right direction, not insurance against everything

Why

Because the people who can least afford a breach can least afford a consultant.

I run Nightingale for small firms that can pay for careful work. But the organizations I'd most hate to see get hit — a food pantry, a community theater, a small congregation — are usually the ones with no budget for any of this, and a volunteer who set up the WiFi years ago and hoped for the best.

One a month is what I can do well. Not a loss-leader, not a funnel — a fixed, honest amount of help given freely to a neighbor on the Front Range. If you're not a fit, I'll tell you, and I'll try to point you somewhere useful.

Request the slot

Tell me about your organization.

A few details so I can see whether you're a fit for this month or a coming one. I read every request myself.

If this month's slot is taken, I'll let you know and hold your request for the next one.
